Incredible talent plays out in MJT Ford Series-PGA of Alberta Junior Championship; Kucy wins playoff after firing 66, 69, 66

Tournament Highlights:

• Four full days of Ford-sponsored Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour events took place at McKenzie Meadows Golf Course in Calgary from July 3 to 6; a free Woodridge Ford Go Golf! Junior Golf Clinic to introduce kids in the community to the game on July 3, and a highly competitive three-round tournament presented by the PGA of Alberta from July 4 to 6.  

• Outstanding scores were recorded out of the 108-strong field in the MJT Ford Series-PGA of Alberta Junior Championship; the best of the best played a tough final round for overall titles in six divisions after a cut to 60% and ties on day three.

• Two scorching scores of 15 under-par forced a playoff to decide the Low Overall and MJT-PGA of Alberta Junior Boys Champion’s trophy between Devin Kucy, 19, of Camrose, AB, and reigning MJT Future Stars Invitational winner, Logan Graf, 18, of Sylvan Lake, AB. Kucy, who had fired spectacular tournament rounds of 66,69,66, came out victorious in the three-hole playoff over Graf, whose incredible and consistent rounds of 67,67,67 had him tied for the lead.

• The MJT-PGA of Alberta Juvenile Boys Champion was Charlie Gillespie, 15, of Calgary, AB, who bested his nearest competitor by 10 shots to win with exceptional scores of 66, 69, 68=203 (-13).

• Brae Rogalczyk, 14, of Innisfail, AB, was crowned MJT-PGA of Alberta Bantam Boys Champion after firing excellent rounds of 67,70,68 = 205. 

• The MJT-PGA of Alberta Girls 15-19 Champion was Carla van Remmen, 15, of Calgary, AB, who played a rock-solid three days of golf to earn the trophy (77,80,77).

• Kali Yeske, 13, of Calgary, AB, vaulted into the lead on day three with a strong round of 69 to win the MJT-PGA of Alberta U15 Girls Champion’s title by eight strokes.  

• And finally, steadily improving rounds of 75,72,71 secured the MJT-PGA of Alberta Peewee Boys Champion’s title for Benson White, 11, of Calgary, AB, his first win on the MJT junior tour.
