MJT MAJOR QUALIFIERS AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS
(These qualifiers and opportunities are for members only)

The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour has a mandate to expose players to top competition for gaining experience and building great playing resumes. Since 1999 we have qualified players for many major national and international junior tournaments and provided financial assistance for expenses where possible.

IMPORTANT: Due to the nature of international events, amendments may occur and qualifiers may change without notice.

NOTE: TIE BREAKER FORMAT: In the event of a tie for an international exemption, the tie breaker will be a combination of Best 3 MJT Order of Merit Finishes and Scoring Average to determine the recipient.

Junior America's Cup - Team BC and Alberta (Men's)

The MJT is excited to be qualifying players and the host organization for both the Alberta and British Columbia Junior America's Cup Teams (Men's).  
 
Qualifying Criteria (4 Players per Team): Age based on JAC Criteria
 
**PLAYERS MUST COMPETE IN A MINIMUM 4 TOURNAMENT ROUNDS ON THE MJT TO QUALIFY FROM THE LIST OF EVENTS BELOW **
 
  • Previous year's Low Scoring Average from male player aged 15-17. (Must be a 2025 MJT Member in good standing, minimum 4 rounds on 2024 MJT schedule)
  • Low 2 players scoring averages through May 22 and have played a minimum 4 tournament rounds on the MJT (low 4 rounds averaged out will determine the scoring average)
  • Committee Pick - no criteria
  • If a player decline, the next player is chosen via Committee pick as well, the next in line will not automatically receive the qualifying spot

  • MJT adidas Golf Series at University GC (March 21-23)
  • MJT FCG World Golf Championship at Northview G&CC (March 28-29)
  • MJT IMG Junior Worlds Qualifier at Morgan Creek GC (April 5-6)
  • MJT Junior America's Cup Qualifier at Tsawwassen Springs GC (April 26-27)

The MJT is the exclusive Canadian qualifying tour for this prestigious event qualifying members for each of the following age divisions:  (Subject to FCG scoring requirements)
Boys: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18
Girls: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18

Age and Birthday Qualifying Information
The MJT will qualify players directly to the FCG Callaway World Championship in the above-mentioned age divisions, however our players will compete for these spots in their correct MJT age divisions (as of August 31). If their respective qualifying spot is in a younger division, those affected will have their score adjusted by the rating differential to determine the qualified player.
 
For example, if a player is 13 years old and in the Bantam Division (based on MJT's static age of August 31st) but they are 12 based on FCG's age date of July 19, so competing for a 11-12 year old spot (Peewee division), the player’s score in the Bantam division will be adjusted by the differential between score and course rating to determine their qualifying score against those in the Peewee division.

Short-listed Qualifying Positions - Junior Tour (11-18) and Mini Tour (10 & Under)

Events listed as the IMG Junior Worlds Qualifier (including MJT Mini Tour)  will shortlist players in the following age divisions for both Girls and Boys: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 for the IMG Academy Junior Worlds Golf Championship in San Diego, California from 6 national events.  The finalists will be chosen according to lowest differential between total score and total course rating.

NOTE: All players that compete in the MJT IMG Qualifiers are short-listed, not just the name mentioned in the Press Release.  They are just the top rated players from that event but all who participate can earn the IMG exemption.

Playing Standard:  All players, regardless of qualifying on the MJT, must meet the playing standards as set out by the IMG for our qualifiers to be exempt.

Personal Information

If you choose to play in this qualifier, you give the MJT permission to provide your contact information to the IMG Junior Worlds Committee as part of our agreement for securing spots.  If you have no intention of trying to qualify, please contact the MJT Head Office before the event and we will make sure your information is not shared.

The MJT will qualify the following number of players for the IMG Junior World Championship from qualifiers from across Canada:

Differential Calculations (No Rating or Playing Up a Division)
 
The rating differential is determined by the total yardage difference / 20.7 which is the average distance on rated golf courses. Based on an average distance of golf courses and slopes, we have determined he following for our differential rating.
 
Example - Richmond Country Club
Boys 11-12                  Tees: Gold (5073 yards) with a rating of 69.4
Boys 9-10                    Tees: MJT Tees (4400 yards) with no rating 
 
Based on the yardages on the website for Richmond CC, the 9-10 will play roughly 4400 and the 11-12 will play at 5073 yards = 673 yards total.
 
673 yards / 20.7 yards = 32.5 (x 0.10) points per 20.7 yards = 3.25 difference for players in Boys 11-12 who will play from the longer yardage. (They will deduct this number to get the Differential)
Players will not be playing down but they will play in the normal MJT Mini Tour division and once play is complete we will get a differential for each age division which will determine the qualifying spot.

The MJT is sending a Team to represent Canada in the largest junior event in the Southern hemisphere. The qualifying is based on the following criteria:

•          Players in the qualifiers who either win or are the runner-up will be short-listed
•          Some players will be chosen via Committee selection
•          Those who are selected will travel from their home city to Sydney, Australia, along with the rest of MJT Team Canada and the Coach, to compete in the Jack Newton International Junior Classic in New South Wales, Australia at the highly ranked Cypress Lakes G&CC. 
 

Those who are invited, will travel from your home city to Sydney, Australia, along with an MJT chaperone to compete in the Jack Newton International Junior Classic in New South Wales, Australia at the highly ranked Cypress Lakes G&CC.  

NOTE:  The Jack Newton International Junior Classic is for 15 - 17 (age as of Tuesday 26th September) and will be played at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club. It is a four round tournament and there is NO CUT.

The World Stars of Junior Golf Championship has become one of the premier Junior Golf Championship in the world. Our event has attracted over 4,000 players from more than 50 countries because of the international field, the strength of the field, quality of courses and it’s Las Vegas location. ​
