Record $68,000 in financial support awarded to MJT members in 2025 Season
Vancouver, BC – (October 21, 2025) – The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s leading junior golf tour, is proud to announce a record-breaking $68,000 in funding and scholarships awarded to deserving members during the 2025 season.
This extraordinary total marks the largest single-year amount ever distributed by the MJT, underscoring the organization’s ongoing commitment to developing Canada’s young golfers both on and off the course. The funding supported membership fees, tournament fees, travel costs, and scholarships.
Annual MJT fundraisers contribute towards these initiatives, while a significant portion, $33,000, was made possible through the Herrendorf Family Foundation (HFF) as part of their multi-year $115,000 commitment to the MJT. This ongoing partnership continues to open doors for aspiring junior golfers across the country, ensuring equitable access to competitive opportunities and academic growth.
As part of this support, the following athletes will receive financial assistance toward the expenses of participation in the upcoming prestigious season-ending event, the MJT National Championship presented by adidas Golf, taking place November 6–9, 2025, at Orange Lake Golf Resort in Kissimmee, Florida: Austin Krahn (Christina Lake, BC), Jett Metaxas (Stoney Creek, ON), Lucas Vizzutti (Powell River, BC), Ollie Larson (Fredericton, NB), Bennett Love (Red Deer, AB), and Chase Strang (Airdrie, AB).
In addition, generous contributions of $2,000 each have been awarded to the following eight Herrendorf Family Foundation Playing Scholars, the last three of whom are continuing HFF Playing Scholars from 2024, ensuring them a place to play on the MJT without the barriers of membership and entry fees: Liam Wheaton (Memramcook, NB), Kolten Cote (Winnipeg, MB), Kale Higginson (Lethbridge, AB), Dylan Matthews (Winnipeg, MB), Brody Katers (Edmonton, AB); Lucas Vizzutti (Powell River, BC), Luke Traverse (Revelstoke, BC), and Carter Lavigne (Moncton, NB).
Finally, the five Herrendorf Family Foundation Academic Scholarship Recipients, with $1,000 each going towards tuition fees at their post-secondary institutions, are Liam Czirjak (Rocky View County, AB), Zaiden Dennis (Calgary, AB), Beckham Chiew (Calgary, AB), Payton Benneweis (Edmonton, AB), and Riley Partington (Fredericton, NB).
The non-profit MJT’s comprehensive financial assistance program, including Herrendorf Family Foundation support, MJT Funding initiatives, and additional bursaries, continues to ensure that young athletes have the resources to pursue their passion for golf without financial barriers.
“The generosity and vision of the Herrendorf Family Foundation continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of our members,” said Elaine Denton, MJT Director of Administration. “Their ongoing partnership allows us to break barriers, foster inclusion, and empower the next generation of golfers to achieve both athletic and academic success.”
The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour extends heartfelt gratitude to the Herrendorf Family Foundation and all contributors who help make this financial assistance possible. These programs continue to shape the future of Canadian golf by investing in its promising young athletes.
