MJT Bestows Juniors With $35,000 In Herrendorf Family Foundation Funding
Vancouver, BC – (October 11, 2024) – The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s leading junior golf tour, is delighted to announce the awarding of $35,000 in funding to successful applicants, courtesy of the Herrendorf Family Foundation (HFF) as part of their multi-year $110,000 commitment to the MJT.
The $35,000 in 2024 has been distributed across three categories with consideration given to those in financial need. The first allocation of $20,000 in funding has been awarded to 10 participants in the MJT National Championship, helping cover their expenses for the season-ending event. The MJT National Championship presented by adidas Golf is set to take place at Orange Lake Golf Resort in Kissimmee, FL, from November 7-10, 2024.
The recipients of this support of $2,000 each are Logan Rossi (Virgil, ON), Saylar May (Rocky Mountain House, AB), Sela Ogada (Calgary, AB), Nancy Liu (Surrey, BC), Chloe Wills (Kyle, SK), Jett Metaxas (Stoney Creek, ON), Spencer Shropshire (Ramara, ON), Austin Krahn (Christina Lake, BC), Jalen Apedoe (Calgary, AB), and Nathan MacDonald (Fall River, NS).
An additional $10,000 has been allocated to five HFF Playing Scholarships for MJT Junior Tour members in 2024, an innovative initiative aimed at removing financial barriers of membership and entry fees, ensuring that these “HFF Playing Scholars” have a place to compete by securing the athletes’ competitive golf journey on the MJT. New 2024 recipient Carter Lavigne from Moncton, NB, joins previous winners Jaiden Brown (Newcastle, ON), Madison Howell (Guelph, ON), Luke Traverse (Revelstoke, BC), and Lucas Vizzutti (Powell River, BC), who will continue receiving support.
The final awards are the MJT HFF Academic Scholarships, which supports post-secondary education for five MJT members each year, who are recognized for their outstanding athletic, academic, and personal achievements with $1,000 towards their college or university fees. This year’s deserving recipients are Matthew Brosens (Waasis, NB), Mateo Kern (Calgary, AB), Katie Chhem (Delta, BC), Tobias Buffam (Calgary, AB), and Austin Schmidt (Jasper, AB).
The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour extends its deepest gratitude to the Herrendorf Family Foundation for their generous contributions, which will have a profoundly positive impact on the lives of these young athletes.
