Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

 

The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's #1 junior golf tour, brought its Mini Tour to Victoria Park Valley Golf Club in Puslinch, ON, on July 27, where a field of nearly 50 talented golfers aged 12 and under showcased their skills in six competitive divisions.
 

Impressive performances highlighted the day as players battled for division titles, custom MJT medals, an outstanding collection of tournament prizes, and the final Ontario qualifying spots into next month's MJT Mini Tour Nationals at Tsawwassen Springs, BC.

Twelve-year-old Jaxon Mitchell of Burlington, ON, carded a superb 67 to capture the MJT Boys 11-12 division. Reflecting on his round, Mitchell said, "Today there was not one particular shot (that stood out), but they were all very good." He was equally enthusiastic about the tournament experience, rating it "Infinity out of 10. Perfect."

North York's Chloe Chen, 11, earned top honours in the MJT Girls 11-12 division with a score of 79. Chen credited her preparation, saying, "My mom took me here for a practice round," and added that her approach throughout the day was simple: "My strategy was to play slowly."

Caleb Dumoulin (10) of Waterford, ON, claimed the MJT Boys 9-10 title after shooting a strong 72. He pointed to his ball-striking and putting as the keys to success, explaining, "The strongest part of my game going into this tournament was driver and good putts." His highlight came on the inward nine, where he recorded ‘6 one-putts on the back nine.’

Nine-year-old Aimee Shan of Unionville, ON, fired a 74 to win the MJT Girls 9-10 division, highlighted by three birdies. Her favourite moment came on the closing hole, where ‘my second shot struck the pin.’ Shan also gave high marks to the event, saying, "This tournament was good, AKA, excellent. No feedback, it was already good."

Seven-year-old Harrison Murray of Oakville, ON, posted an 87 to secure the MJT Boys 8U gold medal. Murray credited “reading my putts and taking my time with putting" as his strategy, while identifying ‘I put it to 10 feet away on a par 3’ as the standout shot of his round.

June Cooper, 8, of Alvinston, ON, topped the MJT Girls 8U division with a score of 86. Her game plan was to ‘avoid the forests,’ and she highlighted ‘the putt I drained on hole 18’ as the shot that helped propel her to victory.
