Taylor low overall at MJT’s 1st Choice Savings Series presented by Lethbridge College
For Immediate Release – Lethbridge, AB – (May 2, 2011) – Junior golfers from Saskatchewan and all over Alberta, some travelling for longer than 12 hours, gathered in Lethbridge, Alberta, this past weekend for the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT 1st Choice Savings Series presented by Lethbridge College at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort. The players braved stormy and mixed conditions on day one, followed by spring weather on day two to define the start of the golf season in the province.
A full field in each age division saw Mitch Taylor, 19, of Calgary, AB, shooting rounds of 75-69 (144) as the overall low finisher. Taylor’s second day 69 was the low round of the tournament, earning him a two shot victory over 18 year old Andrew Ritchot of Lethbridge (72-74=146) in the Boys 17-19 division. This was Taylor’s first win on the MJT, which was exciting for the 1st Choice Savings tournament’s presenting sponsor, Lethbridge College, as Taylor has committed to play there next year while attending their Professional Golf Management Program. Finishing in third place for the division was 17 year old Riley Fleming of Airdrie, AB, who carded rounds of 76-71 (147).
