4 Top Junior Golfers earn their place on MJT Team Canada bound for Australia
Vancouver, BC - (September 2, 2026) – Four junior golfers from four provinces will carry the Maple Leaf to Australia this October, as the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) prepares for its 15th appearance at the Jack Newton International Junior Classic (JNJC), one of the Southern Hemisphere’s premier junior golf events.
Brady Douglas of Vancouver, BC, Colin MacCormac of Stratford, PE, Jace Olson of Humboldt, SK, and Solomon Tong of Heritage Pointe, AB, will make up the 2026 MJT Team Canada contingent, each earning their place through standout performances on the Tour this year.
From October 6–9, the four will trade familiar competition at home for an international field at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club in New South Wales, Australia. With British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island represented, the lineup stretches from coast to coast and brings together four young athletes with the opportunity to test their games against junior talent from around the world.
Accompanying the team will be PGA Professional and MJT Assistant Tournament Director, Gary Byrne, who will support the players throughout their time in Australia.
“These four players have earned an incredible opportunity, and what makes it particularly special is seeing four different parts of Canada represented on one team,” said Byrne. “International competition challenges young athletes in ways that go well beyond the scorecard. They’ll experience a different golf environment, compete alongside talented players from around the world and, most importantly, have the honour of representing Canada. We’re excited to see them embrace every part of it.”
The trip continues a longstanding relationship between the MJT and the Jack Newton International Junior Classic, with Canadian players making the journey for the 15th time. The event brings together hundreds of competitors in a global atmosphere where high-level tournament golf is matched by the opportunity to build friendships, broaden horizons and experience the game beyond Canada.
For Douglas, MacCormac, Olson, and Tong, October represents more than another tournament on the calendar. It is an opportunity earned through their performances at home, and a chance to see where their games can take them on an international stage.
