MJT to host the historic East Coast Junior Championship

The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, Canada’s #1 Junior Golf Tour, is pleased to assume the running of the East Coast Junior Championship, one of the oldest and most prestigious events in Atlantic Canada. The tournament will now feature on the MJT schedule under the MJT National Players Series.

With the support of the Nova Scotia Golf Association (NSGA), Golf New Brunswick (Golf NB), and Prince Edward Island Golf Association (PEIGA), this major tournament will offer enhanced opportunities for players to showcase their skills, compete at the highest level, and pursue their dreams of collegiate and professional golf.

Players from across Canada will be invited to this storied event, to be held at Mountain Woods Golf Club in Moncton, NB, on July 22-23, 2024. The field will be filled from qualifiers on the 2024 MJT schedule, from the 2023 MJT Order of Merit, and from NSGA, Golf NB and PEIGA select players. Juniors are also encouraged to apply for a special exemption for entry via request to MJT Operations Manager, Luke Rundell.

Last year's tournament took place at Covered Bridge Golf and Country Club in Hartland, NB, on June 27-28. In the Boys U19 Overall Gross division, Simon Mullen from Truro Golf Club, Truro, NS, emerged as the champion with a 72/72 (even par). Abbey Baker, from Halifax, NS, representing Ashburn Golf Club, triumphed in the Girls U19 division with a 75/71. The Boys U15 Division witnessed an exhilarating come-from-behind victory by Owen Roach hailing from Fredericton Golf Club in Fredericton, NB, who shot 82/77.

This year, on the traditional tree-lined Mountain Woods Golf Course in NB, players will compete in six divisions: Junior, Juvenile, Bantam and Peewee Boys, Girls 15-19 and Girls U15.

The MJT is committed to upholding the tradition and excellence of the East Coast Championship and aims to deliver a first-class tournament experience for players, families, and spectators.
