MJT National Players of the Year and Dylan Reichelt Memorial Scholarship winners announced for 2021

 

October 6, 2021 - Vancouver, BC – The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's number one-played junior golf tour, is pleased to announce the 2021 National MJT Players of the Year.  These top junior golfers in their respective age divisions were recognized based on their scoring averages in a required minimum number of MJT tournaments across the country, and were as follows:

MJT Boys Peewee Player of the Year: Brayden Card, age 12, Cambridge, Ontario

MJT Bantam Boys Player of the Year: Charlie Gillespie, age 14, Calgary, Alberta

MJT Juvenile Boys Player of the Year: Julien Babineau, age 16, Dieppe, New Brunswick

MJT Junior Boys Player of the Year: Logan Graf, age 17, Sylvan Lake, Alberta

MJT Girls U15 Player of the Year: Katherine Hao, age 14, Burnaby, British Columbia

MJT Girls 15-19 Player of the Year: Vanessa Zhang, age 14, Vancouver, British Columbia

These six elite athletes each receive a $1,000 voucher towards expenses of participation on the program.

In addition to these awards, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour wishes to announce the 2021 recipients of the $2,000 Dylan Reichelt Memorial Award, which is shared between the MJT Juvenile and Junior Boys BC Order of Merit points winners. This year’s recipients are Caleb Davies, 16, of Langley, and Luke Spencer, 17, of Delta.


Now in its 23rd season, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour continues to recognize performance and participation throughout each season via awards and scholarships. In addition to the above, 36 MJT Order of Merit Winners from each age division in each province will be presented with their prizes and funding at the upcoming MJT National Championship presented by TaylorMade and adidas Golf in British Columbia, and $10,000 in MJT Herrendorf Family Foundation Scholarships for selected recipients are soon to be finalized.

About the MJT: The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s number one-played Junior Golf Tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada. The organization is supported by valued Premier, Tournament and Product Partners. The MJT hosts close to 90 events across Canada, including free Ford Go Golf Junior Clinics, the MJT Mini Tour for 12U and multi-day events for competitive players aged 11-19. The program has annual awards, scholarships and incentives to help reward performance and participation throughout each season. MJT alumni include many Professional Tour players and PGA of Canada Professionals, as well as Canadian Amateur, National and Provincial Junior Champions. The MJT aims to develop champions, in golf and in life, promoting the game from grassroots through to the provincial, national, university and professional levels.
