Newly renovated course ready for 2019 MJT Golf Saskatchewan Order of Merit Series presented by Ilta Grain

Swift Current, SK – (May 3, 2019) – After four years of renovations, the newly designed Elmwood Golf and Country Club in Swift Current, SK, is set to host the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s 2019 MJT Golf Saskatchewan Order of Merit (OOM) Series presented by Ilta Grain on May 19 and 20. Junior golfers are invited to register for this event on the MJT website.

The MJT’s Swift Current tournament has several major rankings including those by AJGA, Golf Canada, Golf Saskatchewan and the MJT’s National Order of Merit. The event includes 36 holes of competition with players competing for titles in seven age divisions as well as for shortlisted spots into the US Kids Golf World and Teen Championships. In addition, as Canada’s exclusive qualifying tour for Future Champions Golf (FCG), competitors will be vying for direct exemptions into the FCG Callaway World Championships from July 15 to 17 in Palm Desert, CA.

One month after the completion of the event, the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour returns to play at Chinook Golf Club in Swift Current for the 2019 MJT Golf Saskatchewan OOM Series presented by Ilta Grain on June 22 and 23. Just one week later, the Junior Tour stops in Saskatoon for the 2019 MJT Golf Saskatchewan OOM Series presented by PLYR Golf at Moon Lake Golf and Country Club, June 29 to 30.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Elmwood Golf Club has 10 redesigned holes and 18 brand new greens, designed with the help of Les Furber and Tim Birnie of the Golf Design Services. The course is sure to provide a fierce challenge for MJT’s competitive junior golfers who will get the chance to test it out before Elmwood hosts the PGA of Canada for the 2019 Ping Pro Junior later this summer.

As Canada’s number one-played Junior Tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour encourages young golfers to play in professionally-run tournaments with the objective of improving skills through competition. Participation and performance are rewarded by an impressive list of sponsors including Ilta Grain, which sponsor three events on the MJT in Saskatchewan.
