Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour awards over $50,000 to Junior Golfers in 2012; program is now biggest junior tour in Canada
For Immediate Release - Vancouver, BC - (November 8, 2012) - The Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the "Road to College Golf", is pleased to announce that over $50,000 has been distributed to young golfers in scholarships and international event funding in 2012, and that the program is now the biggest junior tour in Canada with the largest field sizes for competitive multi-day tournaments in the country.
Players on the program who are to benefit from scholarships, funding and awards this month alone include Brianna Carrels of Lethbridge, AB, who is the winner of a $1,500 MJT Cleveland Golf Canada Scholarship based on her outstanding achievements in academics and well-rounded resume in golf and a variety of other sports together with extra-curricular undertakings. Carrels, who would like to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering, wishes to pursue her goal of receiving a great education while playing on a Division 1 golf team. continue reading(.pdf)
