MATHES ARIZONA-BOUND AFTER MJT'S NOVA SCOTIA STOP

Shubenacadie, NS - (August 21, 2009) - Tremendous heat and a hurricane on the horizon proved no distraction for players competing in the MJT CPGA Atlantic Junior Championship at The Links at Penn Hills this week as they focused on winning their division titles and on qualifying for the CAN-USA Team Matches at ASU Karsten Golf Club in Tempe, Arizona, this December.
Derek Mathes, 16, of Kitchener, ON, won low overall honours after closing with a one-under-par 71 to shoot 74-71 (145), claiming the Boys 14-16 title and the spot in the Arizona matches. Sean Fraser, 18, of Sackville, NS, a two-time China Junior Open player from the MJT, overtook first-round leader Craig Dale, 18, of East Mountain, NS, to win in Boys 17-19 (77-77), while Myles Creighton, 13, of Digby, NS, ran away with the Boys 13 and under title with scores of 78-79.
