MANY GREAT SCORES ON MOTHER'S DAY AT MJT'S MEADOWS STOP

Players qualify for events in New York and South Carolina
EAST ST. PAUL, MB - The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour's (MJT) season-opener in Manitoba was held at The Meadows Golf Club in East St. Paul on May 10th and 11th, a triple qualifier for three major international events. Exemptions to be awarded included spots to the East Aurora International Junior Masters (EAIJM) in New York State, and to the CKG Tour World Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Some outstanding scores were posted by the young golfers despite the freezing cold, starting with a 2-under-par two-day total of 140 from Burke Nagle, 19 of Winnipeg, MB (72-68), who edged out Derek East, 18, also of Winnipeg, by just one stroke to clinch the spot for low overall score and the Boys 17 and up division title. East posted a 69 on day two to finish at 72-69=141, while third place in the division was claimed by Burke Wiebe, 17, also of Winnipeg, who shot the low round for the tournament of 5-under-par to vault up the ranks (75-67=142). Wiebe, who qualified for MJT Team Canada to Mexico in 2007, now receives the exemption into the EAIJM for boys aged 14 to 17.
