Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

 

Canada's number one-played junior golf tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), headed to Fredericton, NB, on August 1–2, bringing nearly 60 young golfers to Kingswood Resort for a weekend of competition across both its Mini Tour and Junior Tour circuits.

 

The MJT Mini Tour, designed for athletes aged 12 and under, teed off on August 1, with players competing in five divisions for titles and medals. The event ran alongside a two-day MJT Junior Tour tournament for athletes aged 19 and under on August 1–2, showcasing the continued growth and development of junior golf in Atlantic Canada.
 

Results from the MJT Mini Tour’s one day event are detailed below.

Needing every shot, 11-year-old Camden Boies of Fredericton, NB, edged the MJT Boys 11-12 division by a single stroke after carding an 83. Boies credited a disciplined approach throughout the round, saying his strategy was to ‘play smart and don't do hero shots.’ Following the victory, he praised the experience, adding, "Really good, it's awesome to have tournaments like this."

 

Competing in the MJT Girls 11-12 division, Dieppe, NB's Sophie Landry, 12, earned top honours with a score of 91. Her simple mindset of ‘lock in and have fun!’ helped guide her through the round, and afterward she gave glowing reviews of the event, saying, "10/10, Ryan is the best!" in recognition of Atlantic Canada Tournament Director, Ryan Kingston, and the MJT experience.

 

An exceptional round of 5-under-par 66 lifted 10-year-old Callum Burge of Amherst, NS, to the MJT Boys 9-10 title. Burge pointed to a key eagle opportunity early in the round, saying, "I struck it to three feet on one and made it, so that helped. My attitude was good." He also gave the venue high praise, commenting, “Five stars, I'd like to continue to play here."

 

Nine-year-old Jennifer Li of Rothesay, NB, topped the MJT Girls 9-10 division with a score of 106. Li credited her mental game as the strongest part of her preparation and enjoyed her time at Kingswood Resort, noting, "The course was really nice and well shaped."
 

The MJT Boys 8U gold medal went to 6-year-old Hudson Moore of New Maryland, NB, who posted a 117 to claim the title. Moore identified ‘patience’ as the strongest part of his game and appreciated the tournament experience, saying, "This event was most excellent. Well organized, great prizes. I'm learning each time."
