Road to MJT Mini Tour Nationals runs through Puslinch Golf Club
Canada’s number one-played junior golf tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), teed it up at Puslinch Golf Club in Cambridge, ON, on June 14, where a field of nearly 50 talented young golfers aged 12 and under competed in the latest MJT Mini Tour event.
In cool temperatures and wet spring conditions, athletes battled across five divisions for titles, custom medals, premium prizes, and qualifying opportunities into MJT Mini Tour Nationals at Tsawwassen Springs in British Columbia next month. The event showcased the resilience, skill, and enthusiasm of Ontario's next generation of golfers on Canada's leading junior golf circuit.
Toronto's Bowen Li carded a round of 78 to earn top honours in the MJT Boys 11-12 division. The 12-year-old credited his father for helping him navigate the course, saying, “My dad helped me a lot in my course strategy.” Li also praised the tournament experience, noting that ‘It was very well organized.’
Competing against older players, 10-year-old Cara Noh of Richmond Hill captured the MJT Girls 11-12 title with a score of 84. Noh credited her mother for helping her along the way and relied on a simple game plan throughout the day, explaining that her strategy was ‘staying dry and keeping my tempo steady.’
Lucas Song of Markham claimed the MJT Boys 9-10 crown after posting a solid score of 81. The 10-year-old pointed to the support of ‘my dad and my coach’ as instrumental to his success. As the round progressed, Song found his comfort zone, saying, “On the back 9 I felt more relaxed.”
Oakville's Lanai Park delivered one of the day's standout performances, recording three birdies en route to a winning score of 73 in the MJT Girls 9-10 division. The 10-year-old credited her father for helping her, saying, “My dad helped me win this.” Asked what was on her mind coming down the stretch, Park offered a relatable answer: ‘I was thinking about dinner.’
Seven-year-old Liam Lin of Markham topped the MJT Boys 8U division with a score of 78. Lin attributed much of his success to his short game, explaining, ‘My strategy was mostly putting.’ He also highlighted one of his favourite aspects of competing on the MJT Mini Tour, saying, “I like MJT because I can caddie for myself on the green.”
Top finisher scores and the list of qualified players are noted below. Full results and winners of the Closest-to-the-Pin competition are posted on the MJT website
