Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

 

The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's leading junior golf tour, continued its record-breaking season in Manitoba with another successful tournament for talented young golfers aged 12 and under in the MJT Mini Tour at The Players Course in Winnipeg on July 18.

 

Competing across five divisions, participants battled for titles, custom medals, VOVEX Golf wireless speakers, and qualifying spots into MJT Mini Tour Nationals at Tsawwassen Springs in British Columbia next month. 

 

Manitoba's young golfers continued to showcase the province's growing depth of talent, with Elie’s Ryder Marshall, 12, topping the MJT Boys 11-12 division with a winning score of 78. His approach throughout the day was simple: ‘to keep calm and have fun.’ After earning the victory, Sitarz summed up his experience with an enthusiastic ‘10/10, would love to do this again!’

 

After both finished regulation tied for the lead with a score of 82, 10-year-olds William Harding of Regina, SK, and Levi Penner of Oakbank, MB, returned to the course for a playoff, where Harding prevailed on the first extra hole to capture the MJT Boys 9-10 title. Harding credited ‘nutrition, hydration, and staying out of the trees’ as the keys to his round, adding afterward, "I loved the course and met new friends."

 

Ten-year-old Paulina Brunner of Winnipeg posted a score of 90 to finish atop the MJT Girls 9-10 division. Her mindset throughout the round was, ‘One hole doesn't mean the whole game,’ while her focus down the stretch remained simply to ‘stay focused.’

 

Competing in the MJT Boys 8U division, Winnipeg's Neven Childerhouse, 8, carded a winning 76. He identified his driving as the strongest part of his game and relied on one clear strategy throughout the round: ‘Aim for a target.’

 

Eight-year-old Avery Meilleur of Ste-Geneviève, MB, earned top honours in the MJT Girls 8U division after shooting 104. She attributed her success to ‘focusing on my ball placement, stance for driving, and weight putting,’ and praised the Tour afterward, saying, "The MJT does an amazing job encouraging kids to join and play golf. Amazing prizes to win."
