Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

 

Nearly 50 young golfers aged 12 and under flocked to Innisfail Golf Club in Innisfail on June 7 as the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada's number one-played junior golf tour, hosted another exciting stop on its growing Mini Tour circuit in Alberta.

Competing across six divisions, athletes battled for titles, medals, and valuable qualifying opportunities into the 2026 MJT Mini Tour National Championship, set for later this summer at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course in British Columbia. 

William Leski of Kimberley, BC, earned top honours in the MJT Boys 11-12 division after carding an 81 at Innisfail Golf Club and edging out two runners-up by one stroke. The 11-year-old kept his expectations simple as the round reached its final stages, saying he was ‘hoping that I play good.’ Following his victory, Leski pointed to his father as being instrumental to his success throughout the day.
 

Twelve-year-old Olivia Van Kesteren of Calgary, AB, put together a strong round of 83 to capture the MJT Girls 11-12 title on the challenging Innisfail track, emerging with a four-stroke winning victory.

 

One of the standout performances of the tournament came from Calgary's Mika Bhamra, who fired a brilliant four-under-par 68 to claim the MJT Boys 9-10 division. The 10-year-old's impressive round was built on a simple approach: "Attitude and one shot at a time." Asked about the tournament experience afterward, Bhamra's review was straightforward: "Same as usual, great."
 

Competing in the MJT Girls 9-10 division, Blake Nguyen of Calgary recorded a score of 102 to earn the title with a six-stroke winning margin. The 10-year-old leaned on her father's encouragement during the closing holes, explaining, "My father helped me coming down the stretch when I began to droop." Nguyen also praised the event, calling the MJT ‘a top-notch event, as always.’
 

Eight-year-old Milan Bhamra continued the family’s successful day and captured the MJT Boys 8U division with a score of 80. Like his division winner older brother, the Calgary golfer focused on taking the round ‘one shot at a time,’ a mindset that paid off as he secured a one-stroke victory. Bhamra rated the tournament experience a perfect ‘10/10 as usual.’
 

Jagger Nguyen of Calgary rounded out the podium, winning the MJT Girls 8U division with a score of 91. The eight-year-old enjoyed both the competition and the camaraderie, sharing, "We had a really fun group today, I enjoyed meeting a new friend." Nguyen also described MJT events as ‘first class.’
