12-under-par, playoff and ace fire up MJT PLYR Series at GreenTee

The 2026 British Columbia schedule on Canada’s leading junior golf tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), continued its sold-out season so far with the MJT PLYR Series at GreenTee Country Club in Langley, BC, on May 9–10. A waitlisted field of 94 junior athletes aged 19U teed it up in the first of six events on the MJT’s national PLYR Series of events, where red-hot scoring, a Juvenile Boys playoff finish, and an early hole-in-one from Vancouver’s Mia Yuan (14) on the par-3 8th hole set the tone for an exciting weekend.

With standout gifting from PLYR Golf and premium prizing on the line, players in six divisions chased titles along with the chance to qualify for the WAGR-ranked MJT East Coast Junior Championship at Amherst Country Club in Nova Scotia, June 19-21, 2026.

Absolutely incredible scoring by Doris Hiu Tung Liu, 16, of Vancouver, BC, lit up the field, after she put on a clinic to shoot 65 and 67 and win the MJT Girls 15–19 title with a 12-under-par total of 132. Her exceptional 7-under-par opening round and 5-under finish were powered by 10 birdies and two eagles over the weekend. “I’m happy and grateful to win,” she said, adding that down the stretch, “I wasn’t thinking much about score.”

Langley’s Ryan LePrieur, 17, captured the MJT Junior Boys title by two strokes with excellent scores of 71 and 72 (143), highlighted by 10 birdies over two rounds to secure the win. “It feels amazing, I worked really hard this off-season and spring so it feels great to get my first MJT win of the year,” said LePrieur. “The course was playing a lot harder than I remember, the pins were in some rough spots and the rough was super thick. This was the best event I have played in a while; amazing tee gift, amazing prizes, great venue. The PLYR gear is great.”

A playoff was needed in the MJT Juvenile Boys division, where Langley’s Jay You (15) edged Surrey’s Andy Koh (15) after both players tied for the lead at 142 with identical scores of 72 and 70. You secured the win with a par on the first extra hole, stating, “It indeed feels amazing. I’ve been struggling for a long time trying to fix my swing. The hard work paid off in this tournament.” He added that while ‘a little nervous,’ he settled in by talking with his playing partners, and praised the event, noting ‘staff were great, course conditions were exceptional and employees of the course were friendly.’

Surrey’s Victoria Shen, 11, showed resilience to win the MJT Girls U15 division with rounds of 77 and 70 (147), bouncing back with a strong second round. “I’m happy because I got a two stroke penalty on the first day and I learned from my mistake,” she said, adding, “I came back with five birdies and one eagle.”

Daniel Moon of White Rock earned a hard-fought victory in the MJT Bantam Boys division, carding rounds of 75 and 70 (145) to win by a single stroke in a tightly contested field. Following the round, the fourteen-year-old shared: “I feel really good. I want to say thank you to my parents for supporting me,” he said, adding that ‘conditions were really good and the weather was sunny.’

Port Moody’s Hayden Soohyun Lee, 11, delivered back-to-back rounds of 73 to win the MJT Peewee Boys title by three strokes. “It feels great to win this tournament because of how I won on Mother’s Day,” he shared, thanking his parents and coach, and adding simply that ‘everything is good about it.’
