Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

 

The final 19U event of the 2026 Saskatchewan calendar on Canada’s #1 Junior Golf Tour brought a waitlisted field of 114 talented golfers to The Legends Golf Club in Warman on August 29–30, where conditions shifted dramatically across two days of competition. After a warm and welcoming opening round, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour players returned to a much tougher test on Sunday, battling rainy elements with six division titles on the line.
 

The weekend carried national significance, marking the sixth and final stop in the MJT Maui Jim Series. A dedicated MJT partner and supporter of junior golf across Canada, Maui Jim has been part of six events from coast to coast throughout 2026. With custom Maple Leaf crystal trophies and Maui Jim sunglasses up for grabs, one of Saskatchewan’s largest fields of the year gave the series a fitting send-off.
 

The event also closed the book on an exceptional year of 19U tournament golf in the province, one defined by huge fields, impressive performances and challenging conditions. The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) will turn its attention to 2027 this December, when Early Bird Memberships go on sale ahead of another exciting year of junior golf.

Natalie Maunula delivered one of the most memorable performances of the weekend, recording a remarkable hole-in-one and six birdies on her way to the top in the MJT Girls U15 division. The 14-year-old from North Battleford, SK, was steady with rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 total, but despite acing the par-three third, it was another spectacular shot that earned top billing in her eyes. “On hole 18, I made a 64-foot putt for birdie, that was my highlight,” said Maunula. She was equally enthusiastic about the weekend as a whole: “A true 10/10. I loved every minute of the tournament, and I adore The Legends Golf Club.”
 

It took four extra holes to separate two exceptional performances in the MJT Peewee Boys division, where 11-year-old Hudson Deibert of Regina, SK, and 12-year-old Cohen Bridge of Corman Park, SK, finished 36 holes deadlocked for the lead at 135. Bridge forced the tie with a brilliant final-round 65, while Deibert followed an opening three-under 69 with a stellar six-under 66 before prevailing on the fourth playoff hole. Deibert’s strategy for the weekend was as straightforward as it was effective: “Make birdies and par.” He did exactly that, filling his card with a remarkable 13 birdies over two rounds. After all that scoring, it was his shot on the 17th during the playoff that proved most memorable, with Deibert identifying it as the defining moment of his season-ending victory.

 

Hudson Moreau emerged from a tightly packed MJT Junior Boys field to take the title by a single stroke, posting rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 total. The 17-year-old from Kindersley, SK, collected four birdies over the weekend while focusing on ‘finding fairways and committing to every shot.’ Moreau pointed to his opening drive on the 10th as an important moment, saying, “My first tee shot on 10 gave me confidence and positive momentum for future shots.”

Navigating fast greens and Sunday’s difficult conditions, Warman’s Letian (Tina) Liu secured the MJT Girls 15-19 title and Girls Low Overall honours in her hometown. The 17-year-old improved from an opening 80 to a final-round 77, finishing at 157. “The greens are fast and tricky. Plus, the rain, I was just trying to hit the middle and play safe,” said Liu, whose birdie on the 17th provided a late boost. “A birdie on hole 17 gave me confidence and motivation to finish.”

An impressive one-under 71 in the final round propelled 16-year-old Matty Schmiess of Swift Current, SK, to both the MJT Juvenile Boys crown and Boys Low Overall honours. Schmiess finished at 146 (75-71), two strokes clear of a tie for second after pouring in 10 birdies across 36 holes. “My putting was definitely the strongest part of my game,” he said before giving the weekend his stamp of approval: “The event was 10/10, it was a good event.”

Fourteen-year-old Dalton Stephens of Craik, SK, broke free from a tie for second to claim the MJT Bantam Boys division with a two-day total of 148 (73-75). Stephens carded five birdies over 36 holes, including a momentum-builder early in his round. “I made a long birdie putt on hole 2 that gave me momentum,” he said. Of the event itself, Stephens added, “It was really fun and organized well.”
