Chilliwack, BC

Ordaz Romero’s pin-perfect ace one of many highlights in MJT Mini Tour’s Cheam Mountain stop

Canada’s leading competitive junior golf circuit, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), brought its Mini Tour for 12U players to the scenic Cheam Mountain Golf Course in Chilliwack, BC, on August 4, where talented young athletes braved challenging wet weather conditions in pursuit of division titles, great prizes, and qualifying spots in the MJT Mini Tour National Championship at Tsawwassen Springs in BC later this month. Despite the rain-soaked conditions, Cheam’s tree-lined layout and mountain views provided a memorable setting for a day of determined play and rising talent.

Eleven-year-old Constanza Ordaz Romero of Burnaby, BC, lit up the scoreboard, and the course, with a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th during her round of 66 in the MJT Girls 11-12 division. Her ace helped her secure a solid second-place finish in a talented field, marking an unforgettable moment in her MJT journey.

Impressive performances were rewarded with division titles for Kingston Ji, 12, of Coquitlam, BC, in MJT Boys 11-12 (57), Lucy Li, 11, of Vancouver, BC, in MJT Girls 11-12 (56), Ben Gamley, 10, from North Vancouver, BC, in MJT Boys 9-10 (64), Annabel Zhao, 9, from Richmond, BC, in MJT Girls 9-10 (64), and Mason Hou, 6, from Vancouver, BC, in MJT Boys 8U (60).

Quotes from the division winners, top finisher scores, and the list of qualified players are detailed below. Full results, as well as winners of the Closest-to-the-Pin and Long Drive competitions, are posted on the MJT website here.
