Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

The Road to College Golf, run exclusively by PGA Professionals

Press Release

May 17-19, 2025
Swift Current, SK

117 juniors, 2 aces, 3 days of elite golf in freezing-cold MJT adidas Golf Series at Elmwood

Canada’s number one-played Junior Tour hosted a wait-listed field of 117 junior golfers aged 19U in a three-day, WAGR-ranked, major tournament at Elmwood Golf Club in Swift Current, SK, over the May long weekend, where athletes showcased incredible resilience in freezing conditions during the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT adidas Golf Series. In total, nearly 140 young players from four provinces took part on the weekend, as a MJT Mini Tour stop for 12U players was also hosted, on May 17 only.

Buoyed up with great adidas Golf tee gifting, the MJT Junior Tour athletes battled through torrential rain and ice-cold temperatures from May 17–19. With six division titles and fantastic adidas Golf prizing up for grabs in this MJT Elite Series major-ranked event, players also had the chance to earn bonus MJT Order of Merit points and qualify for the East Coast Junior Championship, MJT National Tour Challenge, and Golf Canada’s NextGen Prairie Championship.

The weekend brought not one, but two hole-in-ones, both in the MJT Juvenile Boys division, adding extra excitement to an already very competitive field. Dayton Vickaryous, 16, of Moose Jaw, SK, aced hole eight during round one, and Jay Kary, 14, of Wetaskiwin, AB, aced hole four in round two, creating memorable moments with their perfect shots.

Low Overall Honours for boys and girls respectively were won by Lucas Sturgeon, 15, from Saskatoon, SK, in MJT Juvenile Boys (71, 75, 72=218), and Grace Odnokon, 15, of Saskatoon, SK, in MJT Girls 15-19 (78, 85, 78=241). Other exceptional performances resulting in division wins were recorded by Christian Flick, 18, of Heritage Pointe, AB, in MJT Junior Boys (70, 75, 74=219), Alyxa Melsted, 12, from Wynyard, SK, in MJT Girls U15 (88, 98, 91=277), Jun Lee, 12, of Regina, SK, in MJT Bantam Boys (69, 79, 73=221), and Oscar Gosgnach, 12, of Edmonton, AB, in MJT Peewee Boys (73, 75, 77=225).

Top finisher scores, quotes from the division winners, and the list of qualified players can be found below. Results from the Bomber Long Drive, PLYR Closest to the Pin, Booster Juice BounceBack Awards and Academy Points can be found here.

Up next in the province is the MJT Zeal Series, taking place at Lloydminster Golf and Country Club in Lloydminster, May 31 – June 1. For more information on the MJT and upcoming events, visit www.maplejt.com.
