MJT Junior America’s Cup Qualifier fields 108 elite players at Tsawwassen Springs

The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) continued its domination of the Canadian junior golf scene this past weekend, hosting its fifth consecutive sold-out event in 2025, with 108 players at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course in Tsawwassen, BC, further cementing its place as the #1-played junior tour. The field, hailing from four provinces, took to the greens in the MJT Junior America’s Cup Qualifier on April 26-27, where players were finally treated to sunny skies after weeks of rain-soaked weather.

The MJT is the only national junior tour offering six age groups, and impressive scores were fired by those seeking division titles as well as coveted spots on the national and international stage. Scores from this and three other MJT events will qualify a team of boys to represent British Columbia in the prestigious Junior America’s Cup in the USA, while other players directly qualified for the MJT East Coast Junior Championship and the MJT National Tour Challenge (names are listed below).

After blazing his way around the course firing red-hot rounds of 67-69, BoSheng (Dylan) Zhang, 14, of Tsawwassen, BC, won not only the MJT Juvenile Boys title but also the Low Overall Honours for Boys (136).

Absolutely rock-solid, back-to-back rounds of 71 won Jenny Guo, 13, of West Vancouver, BC, who plays up in MJT Girls 15-19, her division title and the Low Overall Honours for Girls (142).

A thrilling playoff was needed to determine the MJT Junior Boys title between Vancouverites Trevor Wong, 17, and George (JiaYu) Zhou, 18, after both tied for the lead with an even-par score of 140. Wong sealed the victory with a clutch performance on the first extra hole.

Other outstanding performances led to division wins for Yujun (Tiger) Du, 14, of Delta, BC, in MJT Bantam Boys (70-72), Christy Man, 13, from Richmond, BC, in MJT Girls U15 (78-75), and Ziping Chen, 11, from Surrey, BC, in MJT Peewee Boys (72-70).

Top finisher scores and highlights of the division winners are noted below along with the list of qualified players. Results from the Bomber Long Drive, PLYR Closest to the Pin, Booster Juice BounceBack Awards and Academy Points can be found here.

Next up in British Columbia is the wait-listed MJT PLYR Series at GreenTee Country Club in Langley, taking place May 10-11. For more information on upcoming events on Canada’s leading junior golf tour, please visit www.maplejt.com.
