Sunny skies and stunning victories, MJT’s rising stars shine at Elk Ridge Resort
Under beautiful sunny skies, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s #1 Junior Tour, descended upon the stunning Elk Ridge Resort in Waskesiu, SK, for a thrilling competition. The Elk Ridge Resort Golf Course, renowned as one of Saskatchewan's premier golf destinations, provided a breathtaking backdrop with its challenging 27-hole championship layout. A total of 116 talented young golfers took to the course, with participants either competing in the one-day Mini Tour on August 9 or the two-day Junior Tour from August 10-11. Below are the highlights from the 12U Mini Tour, showcasing the rising stars of the MJT.
Notable performances resulted in division wins by Dalton Stephens, 12, of Craik, SK, in MJT Boys 11-12 (71), Natalie Maunula, 12, of North Battleford, SK, in MJT Girls 11-12 (81), Hudson Deibert, 9, from Regina, SK, in MJT Boys 9-10 (73), Makinlee McCrystal, 9, from Regina, SK, in MJT Girls 9-10 (106), and Jozef Sierzycki, 8, of La Ronge, SK, in MJT Boys 8U (95).

Makinlee McCrystal, 9, from Regina, SK, has made herself quite comfortable at the top of the leaderboard, solidifying yet another win. "I will be prepared for Nationals!" she declared with confidence. Reflecting on her experience, McCrystal added, "10/10, the course was in great condition. MJT Saskatchewan is always very organized and positive!"

Natalie Maunula, 12, from North Battleford, SK, is riding high after clinching her first win of the season. "Since this is my first win of the season, I will have confidence going into my next tournament," she shared with determination. Maunula added, "81 is an exceptional score for me, so I will strive to keep up the good work."

In a showdown only a sibling rivalry could produce, the Sierzycki brothers took control of the MJT Boys 8U division at Elk Ridge Resort. Jozef Sierzycki, 8, from La Ronge, SK, soared to victory with two birdies, while his younger brother, Aleksander, 6, claimed second place. The brothers were the only competitors in their division, but they certainly made it a memorable duel.

Nine-year-old Hudson Deibert from Regina, SK, is on a winning streak, capturing his third consecutive victory on the MJT circuit. With an impressive four birdies, Deibert showcased his skill and determination, proving that hard work pays off. "I practiced hard to prepare and worked on staying focused," he shared. The young champion was also full of praise for the event, declaring, "10 out of 10, the course and MJT is amazing!"

Dalton Stephens, 12, from Craik, SK, clinched a confidence-boosting victory with an impressive one-under par performance. "It feels really good to win, and I think it will build my confidence going into the last few tournaments," Stephens shared. He credited his focused approach, saying, "I just tried to focus on my own score and not worry about other people's—and that helped me." With this mindset, Stephens secured a well-deserved triumph.

About the MJT: The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s #1 Junior Golf Tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada.
