12U players face fast greens and fierce competition in MJT Mini Tour at Moon Lake
On a perfect summer day at the beautiful 27-hole Links-style championship course of Moon Lake Golf and Country Club in Saskatoon, SK, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Mini Tour for 12U showcased a slew of young talent across five divisions on July 28. Proving once again why Canada’s number one Junior Golf Tour is the go-to platform for rising golf stars, the players delivered stellar performances, setting the stage for a bright future in golf!
Notable performances resulted in division wins for Jace Munro, 12, of Swift Current, in MJT Boys 11-12 (81), Alyxa Melsted, 11, of Wynyard, SK, in MJT Girls 11-12 (88), Hudson Deibert, 9, from Regina, SK, in MJT Boys 9-10 (77), Kensi Bourassa, 10, from Saskatoon, SK, in MJT Girls 9-10 (110), and Jerry King Zhao, 8, of Regina, SK, in MJT Boys 8U (79).

Kensi Bourassa, a 10-year-old from Saskatoon, SK, took home her first MJT win of the season in Girls 9-10. When asked how she prepared for her big victory, Bourassa revealed, "I ate really healthy and didn't tire out - but I kept active." Reflecting on her triumph, Bourassa said, "This event boosted my confidence and as I get older, I'll stay in the game."

Alyxa Melsted, 11, from Wynyard, SK, is making quite the name for herself this season by staying undefeated. Her secret? "I take my time and look at the course during the practice round," Melsted shared. She added, "I keep my head in the game and think about my next shot." When it comes to the event itself, Melsted had nothing but praise: "10/10, really well ran." Just like her season—perfectly executed!

Jerry King Zhao, 8, from Regina, SK, has done it again, this time running away with the MJT Boys 8U title. When asked about his winning strategy, Zhao shared, "Practice every day and focus on every ball." With that kind of dedication and laser-like focus, it's no wonder he's ruling the greens.

Hudson Deibert, a 9-year-old golf prodigy from Regina, SK, is on a hot streak with back-to-back MJT division wins in MJT Boys 9-10. "All of my hard work has paid off," exclaimed Deibert, who rated the tournament ‘10 out of 10. The course was amazing!’

Twelve-year-old Jace Munro from Swift Current, SK, swung his way to the top in MJT Boys 11-12 with a medal-winning performance. "I practiced hard to earn this medal," said Munro, proving that dedication pays off. Commenting on the event, he added, "10/10, I loved the course. The fairways were awesome, and nice fast greens, which I loved!"
