Park’s 63 lights up MJT’s Century Pines stop, along with Le-Nguyen’s 65 and Carter’s ace
Canada’s leading junior golf tour, the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), hosted the popular MJT Ontario Series at Century Pines Golf Club in Troy, ON, on August 17-18, where some exceptionally low scores were recorded despite challenging winds and rain. The juniors navigated a diverse mix of long, short, water-laden, and risk-reward holes, along with a 45-minute rain delay halfway through round two, but the elite golfers persevered to deliver fantastic scores regardless. The event, a standout in the MJT Ontario Series, was a testament to the determination and skill of the future stars of Canadian golf.
Low Overall Honours for Girls went to Nobelle Park, 14, from Oakville, ON, who fired a blistering 63 on day two to tie the course record, finishing at an impressive 11-under par with brilliant rounds of 70 and 63 in MJT Girls 15-19. The Boys’s Low Overall title went to Nathan Le-Nguyen, 16, of Toronto, ON, in MJT Junior Boys, who dazzled with rounds of 65 and 73 (138).
More hot scores resulted in division wins for Jett Metaxas, 15, of Stoney Creek, ON, in MJT Juvenile Boys (144), Brennan Turner, 14, from Fenwick, ON, in MJT Bantam Boys (144), Max Sue, 11, from Markham, ON, in MJT Peewee Boys (148), and Kaprice Park, 14, in MJT Girls 15U (142).
Another highlight at the event was courtesy of Grayson Carter, 15, from Newton, ON, who made the fifth hole at Century Pines Golf Club a whole lot more exciting thanks to a spectacular hole-in-one using a perfectly executed nine iron from 150 yards. Carter finished third in the MJT Juvenile Boys division.
