Boge bags back-to-back titles in MJT Bieber Classic-Manitoba Junior Championship
A major-ranked three-day tournament in Carman, MB, fielded an elite group of players on Canada’s number one Junior Tour on August 6 through 8, when the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) wrapped up its 2024 Manitoba season with the highly anticipated MJT Bieber Classic-Manitoba Junior Championship at Carman Golf Club. Set against the stunning backdrop of the northeastern edge of the Pembina Valley, Carman Golf Club hosted over 60 junior golfers from three provinces in the 54-hole event, with five division titles up for grabs along with the chance to qualify for the Champion of Champions 2025 at Lough Erne Resort in Ross Inner, Enniskillen, United Kingdom, in July 2025.
The Boys low overall honours went to 16-year-old Brayden Boge from Winnipeg, MB, who won the MJT Bieber Classic Juvenile Boys champion’s trophy (71,76,82=229). Boge qualified for one of the age-specific spots in the 2025 Champion of Champions tournament along with Hunter Oakden, 13, of Brandon, MB, who was crowned MJT Bieber Classic Bantam champion (74,77,79=230), and Sophia Reid, 13, of Fonthill, ON (83,92,90=265), who claimed the MJT Bieber Classic Girls U15 title. The other top performing MJT Bieber Classic division champions were Kaleb Lambert, 18, from Lorette West, MB, in Junior Boys (72,80,78=230), and Ty Montour, 11, from Oakville, MB, in Peewee Boys (85,94,85=264).

Eighteen-year-old Kaleb Lambert from Lorette West, MB, has reclaimed his spot at the top, bouncing back in spectacular fashion after a second-place finish at the last MJT Manitoba event. "I just trust in my abilities," Lambert shared, reflecting on his journey back to victory. This win is particularly sweet for Lambert, who admitted, "It's a great confidence booster, especially since my game has been struggling as of late."

Brayden Boge, 16, from Winnipeg, MB, has proven once again why he's the reigning champion, successfully defending his title in the MJT Juvenile Boys division. Boge dazzled on the course to claim victory for the second consecutive year at the MJT Bieber Classic-Manitoba Junior Championship. His back-to-back wins underscore his dominance and skill, solidifying his reputation as one of the top young golfers in the region.

Hunter Oakden, 13, from Brandon, MB, clinched his second MJT division title of the season with a poised and powerful performance. "I prepared well for this tournament, knowing in these conditions it would be hard to score well," Oakden shared. "I just like to stay calm, know I'm capable of hitting good shots, and stick to my routine," he added.

Eleven-year-old Ty Montour from Oakville, MB, clinched another first place after a string of close calls, including silver and bronze finishes. "This gives me a good confidence boost," Montour said, rating the tournament ‘10/10.’ He added, clearly energized by his victory, “I like how it was three days, and it let me come back."

1. Sophia Reid (13), Fonthill, ON | 83, 92, 90 (265)
Sophia Reid, a 13-year-old from Fonthill, ON, may have been her only competition, but that didn't stop her from giving it her all. "I give myself time to breathe after each shot and only focus on the present, not on the numbers," she shared. Back in action after a finger injury, Reid said, "This was very confidence boosting, which will motivate me to keep playing consistently." And as for the event? "10/10, I had a bunch of fun," she added.
