Dennis and Johnson win low overall honours in MJT’s Ford Series finale at RedTail Landing
The final stop on the MJT’s Alberta circuit teed off on September 7-8 with the highly anticipated MJT Ford Series at RedTail Landing Golf Club in Nisku. This was the penultimate event in the Ford-sponsored events on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, where a two-day tournament is preceded by a free MJT Ford Go Golf! Junior Clinic for youngsters in the community. At RedTail Landing, this clinic was courtesy of Nisku Ford, who also sponsored the chance for the competitive players to win a brand-new Ford Escape with a hole-in-one. Detailed below are the results from the tournament, which featured a heavily waitlisted field of top juniors aged 19U battling for titles in six divisions as well as the chance to win a spot in the 2025 Champion of Champions World Invitational in Enniskillen, UK.
Zaiden Dennis, 17, from Calgary, AB, fired a stellar round of 68 on day one, culminating in an impressive total of 138 (68, 70) to capture the Boys Low Overall honours and MJT Junior Boys title. In the MJT Girls 15-19 division, Olivia Johnson, 15, also from Calgary, showcased exceptional skill with rounds of 75 and 72, earning the Low Overall Girls (147) and MJT Girls 15-19 title.
Other great performances led to division wins for Brady Wagner, 15, of Sherwood Park, AB, in MJT Juvenile Boys (140), Jayden Arnold, 14, from Calgary, AB, in MJT Bantam Boys (140), Danika Horcica, 12, from Edmonton, AB, in MJT Girls U15 (156), and Oscar Gosgnach, 11, of Edmonton, AB, in MJT Peewee Boys (152).

In the tightly contested MJT Junior Boys division, Zaiden Dennis, 17, from Calgary, AB, lit up the course with two stellar under-par rounds of 68 and 70, featuring 10 birdies and an eagle. "I had a break from tournaments these last few weeks, which gave me the opportunity to work on a few things I was struggling with," Dennis revealed. "It was great to win my last MJT before Nationals. It gives me lots of confidence going into the off-season."

Brady Wagner, 15, from Sherwood Park, AB, dazzled with two impressive under-par rounds of 69 and 71, carding eight birdies over the two rounds to secure a thrilling victory in MJT Juvenile Boys. "I stayed confident through the season despite many close finishes," Wagner said. "This tournament is huge because it’s my second MJT win and a fantastic way to head into next season with momentum."

His remarkable performance demonstrated his ability to excel under pressure, earning him the top spot by three strokes. "I'm really happy to close out the Alberta season with a win. Looking forward to a good break and then getting ready for the National Championship in Florida." said Arnold.

Oscar Gosgnach, an 11-year-old from Edmonton, AB, powered through to a commanding four-shot lead in MJT Peewee Boys. "Mentally, I tried to stay in the moment," Gosgnach said. "I knew that as long as I kept making the putts, it would be okay!"

Fifteen-year-old Olivia Johnson from Calgary, AB, wrapped up an exceptional regular season with another victory as Low Overall/MJT Girls 15-19 winner after firing great rounds of 75-72. "Practicing regularly and keeping a positive attitude were key to my success," Johnson shared. "It means a lot to end the Alberta season with a win!"

Danika Horcica, 12, from Edmonton, AB, continues to shine as a podium regular in MJT Girls U15 and capped off the season with an excellent showing. "It's nice to end the season with a win!
