Nicholson and MacDonald rack up their third MJT Mini Tour titles at Amherst

Junior golfers came out to compete on Canada’s number one-played Junior Tour in Amherst, NS, this past weekend, in either a two-day Junior Tour (19U) event on June 24 and 25, or a one-day Mini Tour (12U) event on June 24 only. Results from the Mini Tour stop at Amherst Golf Club, a superb new venue in the region to host the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, are highlighted here.

Scores were tight in each division over the challenging Amherst course which is open and offers little protection from the high winds that can whistle across the marsh from the Northumberland Strait. Both Alex MacDonald, 8, of Fall River, NS, and Borden Nicholson, 10, of Pictou, NS, won their third MJT titles of the season on the MJT Atlantic Canada U12 circuit, and as they are already exempt for the season-ending MJT Mini Tour National Championship in British Columbia this August, these qualifying spots were awarded to the next highest ranked players.

The next stop in the region is the MJT Mini Tour at Kingswood Resort in Fredericton, NB, on August 5, 2023 – register here. More information on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, including the entire 2023 schedule, can be found online at www.maplejt.com
