Successful end to MJT Mini Tour’s Alberta season at Meadowlands

A good sized field of very young golfers aged 12 and under came out in the wind and rain to compete in five divisions at the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Mini Tour at Meadowlands Golf Club in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, on August 24.  This was the final event on the MJT Alberta Mini Tour circuit, leading up to the invite-only MJT Mini Tour National Championship at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Club in British Columbia next week.

Low overall scores for the Boys and Girls divisions respectively were shot by Edwin Park, 10, of Bentley, AB, and Ain Lee, 9, of Sylvan Lake, AB, who won their division titles in MJT Boys 11-12 and MJT Girls 9-10 respectively. Other highlights included a playoff win by Calgarian Kaitlyn Joy, 12, in MJT Girls 11-12, another victory by 8-year-old Rylan Hryhirchuk of Irma, AB, in MJT Boys 8U, and a stellar performance in MJT Boys 9-10 by Carter Martin, 10, of Millet, AB, who finished the day as the only player under par.  Results from the top finishers and winner quotes are noted below, while results of the Closest to the Pin and Long Drive contests can be seen on the MJT website here.

This event brings to a close another successful season on the MJT Alberta Mini Tour circuit. Early Bird memberships for 2024 will be available in December.
