Great show put on at Calgary’s Lil Devil Golf Club by MJT Mini Tour players

A full field of rising young talent in the golfing world competed in six divisions at the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Mini Tour Spring Series at Lil Devil Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta, over the weekend. Players were also in for the chance to qualify for the MJT Mini Tour National Championship at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course in British Columbia this August.

It was an exciting day at the Lil Devil Golf Club, witnessing 10-year-old Sedona Weitz of Foothills M.D., AB, shoot an impressive five under par 57 in the MJT Girls 9-10 Division, as well as the performance in MJT Boys 11-12 by Austin Nesbitt of Pilot Butte, SK, the only other player in the field to break par with a three under 59.  Both Weitz and Nesbitt are in fine form as they prepare to head to California after qualifying on the MJT for the FCG Callaway World Championship this July. The MJT is the sole Canadian qualifier for this major junior USA event.

Top finisher results and quotes from the division winners are noted below. The next MJT Mini Tour event in the province is the MJT Mini Tour at Olds Golf Club in Olds, AB, on June 25 – players can register here.  More information on Canada’s number one-played Junior Golf Tour, including the entire 2023 schedule, can be found online at www.maplejt.com
