Wood ends junior career with a win at MJT’s Kingswood Resort stop

Canada’s number-one junior tour, the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, hosted a field of 67 young golfers in Fredericton, NB, this past weekend, at the Kingswood Resort. The young athletes were playing in either a two-day Junior Tour (19U) event on August 5-6, or a one-day Mini Tour (12U) event on August 5 only. Results from the Junior Tour event, in which players battled a tough weekend of rain, lightning and weather delays, are detailed here.

The challenging conditions resulted in temporarily unplayable greens on the first day along with a 40 minute rain delay, however the tournament finished with some remarkable golf among the six age divisions, where players were battling for last minute MJT Order of Merit points to earn their spot into the MJT National Championship presented by TaylorMade and adidas Golf at Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona, this November.

Jadian Eisenhauer of Falmouth, NS, won her second MJT Girls 15-19 title of the season and Brady Wood, 18, of Fredericton, NB, finished at two-under par in the MJT Junior Boys Division, resulting in both claiming Low Overall honours for Girls and Boys respectively. This was a fitting finale for Wood as he was playing in the last junior event of his career. Other highlights included 12-year-old Liam Wheaton of Memramcook, NB, winning the MJT Peewee Boys Division with a one-under par total, Nathan MacDonald, 13, of Fall River, NS, posting even par in MJT Bantam Boys and Chase Burgess, 16, of Petitcodiac, NB, playing consistent golf on his way to the MJT Juvenile Boys title. Top finisher scores and winner quotes are noted below. Results from the TaylorMade Long Drive, PLYR Closest to the Pin, Booster Juice BounceBack Awards and Academy Points can be found here.

The final stop in the region is the MJT Humber College PGM Classic at Fox Harb’r Resort in Wallace, NS, on August 14-15, 2023 - there are openings, so please register here.
