Wilson wins low overall in MJT Atlantic Canada Series at Chester Golf Club; great turnout of juniors

It was another great field of 77 young golfers ages six to 18 that took part in the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s second stop in the region at the immaculate Chester Golf Club in Chester, Nova Scotia, on May 27 and 28. Canada’s number one-played Junior Tour hosted both a two-day Junior Tour (19U) and one-day Mini Tour (12U) event; results of the Junior Tour, where players competed for titles in six divisions plus the chance to be short-listed for the Jack Newton Junior International in New South Wales, Australia, are highlighted here.

Blake Wilson, 15, of Windsor Junction, NS, played solid golf in very difficult and windy conditions around the tricky Chester layout.  With winds gusting to 50km/h, players were forced to use a variety of shots and Wilson managed his ball better than the rest to earn Low Overall honours.  Among the Girls, Low Overall score was shot by 17-year-old Jadian Eisenhauer of Falmouth, NS, who won against the wind. Top finishers and winner quotes are noted below. Results from the TaylorMade Long Drive, PLYR Closest to the Pin, Booster Juice BounceBack Awards and Academy Points can be found here.

Registration is on-going for the next stop in the province, the MJT Atlantic Canada Series at Sussex Golf and Curling Club in Sussex Corner, NB, June 10-11. To enter, or for more information on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, please visit the website at www.maplejt.com.
