Winning was in the Cards in MJT Spring Invitational at Galt Country Club

A top private golf club graciously hosted the 2023 Ontario season-opener for Canada’s number one-played junior tour recently, when the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Spring Invitational teed off at Galt Country Club in Cambridge on April 29-30.  The field was selected from the MJT 2022 Order of Merit, and winning was in the Cards as local siblings Brayden and Alexis Card both claimed their respective division titles. Alexis, at only 12 years old, also shot the Low Overall Girls score (79-78), while 16-year-old Jaiden Brown of Newcastle, ON, carded 34 (-2) on the back nine on Sunday for the Low Overall Boys score (74-72). Every division winner qualified for the MJT’s exclusive exemptions into the FCG Callaway World Championship in Rancho Mirage, California, this July.

“The first day was a lot better than we expected based on the forecast,” said Dave Smallwood, MJT Tournament Director, about the wet and chilly spring conditions, “Everyone was excited to play, this being the first event. There was a lot of energy out there.”
