Canada's #1 Junior Golf Tour

The Road to College Golf, run exclusively by PGA Professionals

Press Release

June 10-11, 2023
Steinbach, MB

Two playoffs needed in MJT’s successful Steinbach stop

Canada’s number one-played Junior Tour hosted both a two-day Junior Tour (19U) and one-day Mini Tour (12U) event at the beautiful Steinbach Fly-In Golf Club in Steinbach, Manitoba, this past weekend, where players competed for titles in six divisions plus the chance to be short-listed for MJT Team Canada to the Jack Newton International Junior Classic in New South Wales, Australia. Junior golf in Manitoba has seen steady growth this year with many new players competing at each MJT event, and it was a successful weekend for weather and golf at the lush Steinbach course with swirling winds on the first day keeping the players on their toes.

Top results from the Junior Tour (U19) stop, which ran June 10 and 11, are noted below, along with winner quotes. Highlights included playoffs in both the MJT Peewee and Bantam Boys divisions, low overall scores shot by India Young, 16, of Carman, MB, and 18-year-old Ethan Portey of Thompson, MB, in the Girls and Boys divisions respectively, and short-listed positions on MJT Team Canada to Australia, which is for 15- to 17-year-olds as of September 26, 2023, going to India Young and Kaleb Lambert of Lorette West, MB.

Results from the TaylorMade Long Drive, PLYR Closest to the Pin, Booster Juice BounceBack Awards and Academy Points can be found on the MJT website here.

Registration is on-going for the next stop in the province, the MJT PLYR Series at Selkirk Golf and Country Club in Selkirk, MB, on July 6-7 -  please register here. For more information on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, please visit the website at www.maplejt.com.
