Ashburn Golf Course’s centennial year of operation sees MJT inaugural event; Baker and Gaudet win low overall titles

Tournament Highlights:
- Canada’s number one-played Junior Golf Tour stopped in Nova Scotia on August 3 and 4 for a special two-day tournament on two separate golf courses, one of which was celebrating their centennial year of operation (Ashburn). Players competed for titles in six divisions in the MJT Atlantic Canada at Ashburn Golf Club (Halifax) and at Oakfield Golf and Country Club (Enfield), with order of merit points earned going towards qualification for the MJT National Championship in Orlando, FLS, this November.
- Jordie Cooper, 18, of Fall River, NS, battled for first place in the MJT Junior Boys division, and took top spot by one stroke with scores of 77-74 for his first MJT win of 2022.
- In the MJT Girls 15-19 division, Abbey Baker, 17, of Halifax, NS, won low overall girls score and her third MJT title of the season in as many starts with solid rounds of 76-77.
- The MJT Juvenile and low overall boy was Zachary Gaudet, 15, of Truro, NS, who fired great scores of 74-75, six strokes ahead of the nearest competitor in his division.
- Neve Miller, 14, of Dieppe, NB, carded rounds of 83-85 to win her fourth MJT U15 Girls division title this season for a perfect track record.
- It was anyone’s game in the closely contested MJT Bantam Boys division, where Tommy Chang, 14, also of Dieppe, NB, edged out a one stroke victory with scores of 79-81 for his first-ever MJT title.
- A excellent personal best first round of 69 secured Nathan MacDonald, 12, of Fall River, NS, a dominant lead in the MJT Peewee Boys division, which he held onto, to win with rounds of 69-79.
