Playoff, plus seven qualify for FCG World Championship at MJT’s KenWo event
Tournament Highlights:
- The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s number one-played junior tour, opened up the season in the region with a great field in the MJT Atlantic Canada Season Opener at KenWo Golf Club, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
- Junior golfers start off their 2022 Tournament season with a bang, as spring has sprung in Eastern Canada, and the rain held off the entire weekend.
- Ryan Sutherland, 14, of Brookfield, NS, won the MJT Bantam Boys Division title in a playoff with Kooper MacKay, after both had tied for the lead at 156 total score.
- Both the Low Overall Boy and Girl in the tournament shot identical scores: Gavin Ives, 17, of Middle Sackville, NS, won the MJT Junior Boys and low overall boys title with 74,71, and Abbey Baker, 17, of Halifax, NS, won the MJT Girls 15-19 division and low overall girls title, with a scorecard of 74, 71.
- Neve Miller, 14, of Dieppe, NB (99-82), Liam Wheaton, 11 of Memramcock, NB (79-82), and Jacob LeBlanc, 16, also of Dieppe (77-73), won their division titles in MJT Girls U15, MJT Peewee Boys and MJT Juvenile Boys respectively.
- Warren Mostovac, 11, of New Minas, NS, a newcomer to the MJT Junior Tour, played on his hometown course and had a 20 stroke improvement with the best comeback score in the tournament.
- Seven players earned qualifying spots for the FCG World Championship in Palm Springs, California, July 18-20, 2022.
