Champions crowned out of 119 competitors in 17th annual MJT Odlum Brown Classic; August shoots 14 under par

Tournament Highlights:
- Canada’s number-one played Junior Golf Tour witnessed outstanding scores out of the 119-strong field competing in the three-day, major-ranked 17th annual MJT Odlum Brown Classic at Northview Golf & Country Club in Surrey, BC, on August 2 through 4. After the first two rounds on the Canal Course, there was a cut to 60% and ties on day three, when the best of the best played a tough final round on The Ridge Course for overall titles in six divisions.
- Several excellent scores were recorded, firstly in the MJT Bantam Boys Division where Jaden August, 13, of Pitt Meadows, BC, was crowned MJT Odlum Brown Bantam Boys Champion after firing blistering rounds of 66-70-66 (202) for a 14 under par final score.
- An incredible performance from Elaine Liu, 14, of Vancouver, BC, won her the MJT Odlum Brown Girls 15-19 Champion’s trophy after she shot a sizzling final round of 65 to card 73- 71- 65 (209) for a seven under par total score.
- The MJT Odlum Brown Juvenile Boys Champion’s title went to Austin Krahn, 15, of Christina Lake, BC, who won by two strokes with fine scores of 73-68-72 (213), vaulting him ahead in the Order of Merit standings.
- More low scoring came in the MJT Peewee Boys division, where Matthew Cui, 11, of Burnaby, BC, fired 68-77-70=215 (-1) to be crowned Champion.
- Holding off tough competition and a three-way tie for second place, Eli Harris, 18, of Kelowna, BC, shot rock-solid rounds of 72-75-74=222 (+5) to claim the MJT Odlum Brown Junior Boys Champion’s title.
- The MJT Odlum Brown Girls 15U Champion was Rose Chen, 13, of Langley, BC, who closed with an incredible score of 69 to shoot 74-74-69 (1+) and win the division by six strokes.

Its good to win another tournament right before the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, I think this will give me a boost in confidence going into the tournament next week. Coming down the final stretch, I made a few birdies that really sealed the deal. I made an awesome approach shot on hole 18 over the water, that was a nerve-racking one, but I struck it well and that led to a birdie. I love the game no matter what the outcome, so I just want to enjoy every moment.”
