Markham, ON – (August 4, 2021) – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour passed the halfway point of the Ontario 12U season on August 3 as it made its way into Markham, ON, for a one-day Mini Tour event, where junior golfers aged 12 and under competed for titles in six divisions at the MJT Mini Tour at Markham Executive Golf Course.

Earning a four-shot victory in the MJT Boys 11-12 Division with a score of 66 was 12-year-old Hudson Kelahear, of Etobicoke, ON. Kelahear, who is slowly beginning the transition onto the MJT Junior Tour, earned his first Mini Tour win in two years of competing on the MJT. “It was a great experience getting the win,” commented Kelahear, who enjoyed being on the golf course and playing with his competitors. “Most importantly, the kids I played with were so nice which made the tournament fun.” Tottenham, ON, golfer Parker MacMillan, 12, recorded a 70 to finish the division in second place.

The MJT Boys 9-10 Division saw London, ON, golfer Bryce Burridge earn another win on the MJT Mini Tour as he recorded a score of 64. The 10-year-old golfer, whose name has been at the top of the MJT Mini Tour leaderboards this season, took home the division title by three shots. North York, ON, player Nathan Dai, 10, recorded a score of 67 to take home the runner-up spot in the division.

Seven-year-old Harrison Doucet, of Scarborough, ON, fired a round of 76 to take home the title in the MJT Boys 8U Division at Markham Executive Golf Course. “I was nervous at first, but I felt very happy at the end,” commented Doucet after his win. “My driving was why I won the tournament.”

In the MJT Girls 11-12 Division, Toronto, ON, player Rosalynn Liu shot a score of 71 to win by four shots. The 11-year-old golfer earned her first title on the MJT Mini Tour since beginning to compete back in 2020. “I’m really happy and proud of myself for winning the tournament,” commented Liu. “I think being mentally stable and calm were the keys to my victory.”
