Four MJT Mini Tour Titles won in Manitoba season finale at Rossmere Country Club

 

Winnipeg, MB – (September 1, 2021) – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour concluded its 2021 circuit for 12U in Manitoba on August 31 with the MJT Mini Tour at Rossmere Country Club in Winnipeg.

The MJT Boys 11-12 Division winner was 11-year-old Aris Mercury, of Winnipeg, MB, who shot a score of 74 to take home the title by three shots. “I felt confident going into the tournament because I had control of my game,” commented Mercury. “I knew that I could have a good chance to win and it feels exciting to get the win.” Winnipeg, MB, local golfer Dylan McFayden, 12, fired a score of 77 to finish runner-up.

Winnipeg-golfer Owen Conrad picked up a two-shot victory in the MJT Boys 9-10 Division at Rossmere Country Club. The 10-year-old golfer recorded a score of 83 to earn his first ever MJT Manitoba Mini Tour title. Ten-year-old Lance Chaloner, of Winnipeg, shot 85 to finish in second place.

The MJT Boys 8U Division saw eight-year-old Forrest Wiebe, of Macgregor, MB, record a score of 86, to win the division title. “I had a lot of fun playing on the MJT and it was great to get the win,” commented Wiebe. “The course was in great shape and my chipping was good.”

Eight-year-old Maisy Shewchuk, of Winnipeg, fired a score of 83 to win the MJT Girls 8U Division after returning from a great performance at the MJT Mini Tour National Championship in British Columbia just a couple of weeks ago.

This tournament marks the end of the 2021 MJT Mini Tour season in Manitoba. A 2022 Early Bird Membership Offer will be available this December and details can be found online at www.maplejt.com.

 

About the MJT: The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s number one-played Junior Golf Tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada.
