Ko, Zhai, Liddell and Derrheim take MJT Mini Tour titles at Musqueam

Vancouver, BC - July 11, 2017 – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Mini Tour Summer Series played at Musqueam Golf Club in Vancouver, BC, on Monday, July 10, where players aged 12 and under competed for Boys and Girls division titles in Atom (10 years and under) and Peewee (11 to 12 years).

It was Cadence Ko, 10, of Richmond, BC, who shot 68 from the Atom Girls tees and won this division title by four strokes over Claudia Zhang, 10, of West Vancouver, BC. Ko commented on her win by saying, “I had a birdie on hole 15! I feel very happy, but I know there is still lots of room for improvement.”

Bonnie Zhai, 12, of Surrey, BC, shot 68 from the Peewee Girls tees and won by four strokes over Annalise Stolzenberg, 11, of Langley, BC, in the MJT Peewee Girls Division.

Charlie Derrheim, 11, of Delta, BC, shot 63 to win the MJT Peewee Boys Division by four strokes over Nathan Szpakowicz, 11, of Vancouver. The 63 posted by Derrheim also took home low overall honors for the tournament and was his first title on the MJT. Derrheim said afterwards, “I feel very happy and excited about my first win. I think the best thing about my game today was probably my short game.”

In the MJT Atom Boys division, Emil Liddell, 10 of Vancouver, BC shot 67 to win by 11 strokes over James Xiong, 9, of Vancouver, BC.

Closest to the Pin and Long Drive prizes were also awarded and results can be viewed online.
