12-year-old Sehra impresses at MJT Humber College Classic

Burlington, ON – (June 22, 2015) – Humber College, a new Tournament Partner of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, sponsored last weekend’s MJT Humber College Professional Golf Management Classic at Hidden Lake Golf Club in Burlington, ON, where 12-year-old Shawn Sehra continued his impressive performance with the lowest scores in the field and another MJT division victory, this one by 15 strokes.

Sehra, of Windsor, ON, fired 72, 70 (142) to finish at even par and rack up his third MJT Peewee Boys title in as many starts.

Solid scores of 74, 76 (150) from Connor McCrea, 19, of Burlington, ON, gave him a three-stroke victory in the MJT Junior Boys U20 division over Sam Kreze, 18, of Kitchener, ON (77, 76=153).

In the Juvenile Boys U17 division, Ryan Trocchi, 15, of London, ON, finished strong with scores of 86, 74 (160) to come from behind and edge out a one stroke victory over Morgan Halcovitch, 16, of Camlachie, ON.

And in Bantam Boys U15, the first place MJT trophy went to 14-year-old Yaroslav Ilyenko of Stouffville, ON, who shot 76, 79 (155) to beat out Bennett Ruby of Waterloo, ON, by six strokes.                     

Hansika Tathgur, 16, of Brampton, ON, carded consistent scores of 86, 88 (174) and edged out a one-stroke victory over Kate Johnston, 17, of Ayr, ON, in the Girls U20 division.

The younger girls title for U15 players was won by 14-year-old Logan Hackett of Oakville, ON, after she shot 92, 90 (182) and won by five strokes over Alexis McMurray of Oakville.

Age -eligible players who qualified for the North American Junior. Amateur Championship (NAJA) are Yaroslav Ilyenko and Connor McCrea, and shortlisted qualifiers for MJT Team Canada to the 2015 SRIXION International Junior Classic in Australia are Ryan Trocchi and Hansika Tathgur. Official invitations for the Australia trip will be sent out once qualifying is complete across the country.

The next Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event in Ontario is the MJT PGA of Ontario Junior Championship at Forest City National GC in London, June 27- 28th, which is also a qualifier for the new MJT International Team Challenge in Niagara Falls this September and the North American Jr. Amateur Championship (NAJA) 2015.
