Bartlett wins International Junior Masters spot at MJT’s Mystic stop - Four other division champions; hole-in-one highlight

Ancaster, ON. – (May 25, 2015) – A direct exemption into the prestigious International Junior Masters (IJM) goes to Devin Bartlett, 18, of Cambridge, ON, after he won Low Overall and the MJT Junior Boys 17-19 title at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s second event in Ontario this season, hosted by the very challenging Mystic Golf Club in Ancaster on May 23rd and 24th.

The IJM, which runs June 22nd through 26th in East Aurora, New York, was initiated in 1953 and is the oldest international junior golf invitational in North America. Bartlett, who shot 76-79 (155) to win his division by 10 strokes, is hoping to emulate the MJT’s 2013 entrant into the tournament, Trevor Ranton of Waterloo, who ended up as Champion.

The other division titles up for grabs in the MJT’s Mystic event went to Zach Burt, Kyle Chung, Eric Shea and Kate Johnston, all from Ontario. Kate Johnston, 17, of Ayr, won the Girls division after breaking 80 for her first time in competition in her final round (82-78=160). Eric Shea, 15, of Brantford, took the MJT Juvenile Boys 15-16 title by a four stroke winning margin (80-79=159), which was repeated in the Bantam Boys 13-14 division where Kyle Chung, 14, of Brampton, shot 77-81 (158) to win by four. Zach Burt, 12, of Guelph, carded 90-94 (184) to beat out Ethan Szabo, 11, of St. George, for the MJT Peewee Boys 12 and under title.

Another highlight was a hole-in-one by Brantford’s Jacob Smith, 16, who aced the 11th hole on day one and received a Miura Golf Gift Certificate for his achievement.
