Hall and Macdonald shortlisted for Junior Worlds at MJT’s Mystic stop

Ancaster, ON. – (May 12, 2014) – Adam Graham, 18, Swade Hall, 16, and Peter Macdonald, 13, won their respective age divisions in the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Junior Worlds Qualifier at Mystic Golf Club in Ancaster, Ontario over the May 10th and 11th weekend, plus Hall and Macdonald became shortlisted for age-specific exemptions into the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship in San Diego, California, at the famed Torrey Pines Golf Club this July.

Adam Graham, of Sarnia, closed with the low round for the tournament and fired 74-69 (143) to win Low Overall and the MJT Junior Boys 17-19 title by fourteen strokes over nearest competitor Ian Wilson, 17, of Ottawa (81-76=157). “I played great this weekend so I’m glad I finished with a win,” said Graham. Third place in this division went to Matthew Wood, 18, of Hamilton, who shot 87, 77 (164).

 Swade Hall, of Camlachie, (76-83=159) and Matt McGhee, 16, of London (78-81=159) were tied for the MJT Juvenile Boys 15-16 division lead after regulation, and headed into a sudden death playoff which Hall won on the second playoff hole.  “It feels very good to win,” said Hall, whose shortlisted spot in the Junior Worlds is now subject to the outcome of other qualifiers across the country. “I feel the Maple Leaf Tour is a very good tour in Canada and now I can say I won on it - it’s an honour.” Third place in the Juvenile division was claimed by Aaron Black, 16, of Grimsby, who carded 80-80 (160). 

13-year old Peter Macdonald of Mississauga won the Bantam Boys Division and a shortlisted position for the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship after firing 78-81=159 to edge out young Peter Blazevic, 10, of Burlington (81-80=161) and 14-year old Jack Ferguson of St. Thomas, who carded 81-80=161. 

The two-day tournament also featured Skills Competitions, where divisional winners were Curtis Hughes of Lakeshore, Aaron Black of Grimsby, and Ian Wilson in the Mr. Lube Long Drive, together with Connor Munro of Etobicoke, Nicholas Kyriakou of Waterloo, and Wilson once again in the Sundog Eyewear Closest-to-the-Pin. Golf Town Comeback Awards for best second day improvement in score went to Luca Carestia of Ancaster, Hayden Edworthy of Cambridge, and Craig Stefureak of Caledonia.
