LANGLEY, B.C. – (May 20, 2013) – A brilliant final round of 66 in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s two-day tournament on May 18th and 19th in Langley, BC, ensured victory for Chris Crisologo of Richmond, BC, who won Low Overall and the MJT Junior Boys 17-19 title (71-66=137) in the MJT Junior Worlds Qualifier at Pagoda Ridge Golf Club. Four players also qualified for age-specific shortlisted spots into the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship in San Diego, CA, this July, with the final winners to be announced once all MJT qualifiers across the country have completed.

“The competition was close with a few people within a few strokes of me,” said Crisologo, who is now shortlisted for a Boys 15-17 spot in the Junior World Championships. “It feels great to win my first MJT in this age division.” Runner-up in his division was Marcus Brown, 17, of Surrey, BC (73, 74=147) while third place went to Jaesung Choi, 17, also of Surrey (73, 76=149).

More great scores were recorded in the Juvenile Boys 15-16 division where Patrick Tan, 15, of Vancouver, BC, fired back-to-back rounds of 70, 70=140 to win the title by five strokes. “The conditions were great, the greens were nice and firm,” he summed up. “My competitors had me worried a little bit at the beginning, I didn’t know how things were going to turn out, but it was a great day and I had a good round. Kathy Lim, 15, of Langley, BC, secured a shortlisted spot in the Junior World Championship for Girls 15-17 after she posted solid scores of 77, 73=150 to win the MJT Girls division by five strokes over joint runners-up Alisha Lau, 13, of Richmond, (78, 77=155) and Tiffany Kong, 12, of Vancouver, (80, 75=155). Lau beat Kong in a playoff for the Girls 13-14 shortlisted spot.

The MJT Bantam Boys 14 and under title was won by Khan Lee, 13, of Surrey, who shot 75, 76=151 and is now shortlisted for a Boys 13-14 spot in the Junior World Championship. “My short game was great,” he said.
