NEW MJT VENUE TARANDOWAH PROVES TOUGH CHALLENGE

Avon, ON - (September 27, 2010) – The new venue of Tarandowah Golf Club in Avon proved to be a tough challenge for the young golfers on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), where the conditions were extremely difficult, leading to high scores in the MJT Ontario One Day Fall Series on Saturday, September 25th.

Craig Stefureak, 13, of Caledonia, continued his fine play on the MJT and won the Boys 13 and under title in style with a 73. Runner-up was Max Clift, 12, of Kitchener, who fired 82, while 10-year-old Daniel Core from Newmarket placed third after carding 85.

After tying for the lead in the Boys 14-16 division with scores of 78, Tyler Schepens, 16, of London, and Mitchell Toth, 15, of Langton, went into a playoff which was won with a birdie on the third hole by Schepens. Third place went to Oliver Stephens, 15, of Sarnia, who shot 87.

Karim Corringham, 19, of Pickering, beat Colin McCoy, 17, of Tilsonburg, to win the Boys 17-19 title with a 76, and Kirsten Degutis, 17, of Waterloo, won the Girls title with a score of 90, beating out Monica Gabriele, 14, of Mississauga, and Alisha Corringham, 15, of Pickering.

Divisional winners in the Mr. Lube Long Drive Competition were Trevor Ranton of Waterloo, Schepens, McCoy and Degutis, while the Sundog Closest-to-the-Pin divisional winners were Ranton, Toth and Karim Corringham. The Golf Town Comeback Awards went to Alisha and Karim Corringham, Schepens and Jack Quirke of Waterloo.
