PIMENTEL BEATS THE HEAT AT MJT’S SRIXON SWAN-E-SET STOP
PITT MEADOWS, B.C. - (July 19, 2009) – Mason Pimentel withstood the heat of hot summer weather and fierce competition to shoot the low overall score at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) Srixon Series at Swan-e-set Bay Resort in Pitt Meadows on July 17th and 18th, winning the Boys 14-16 title and a spot in the Can-USA Team Matches at ASU Karsten Golf Club in Tempe, Arizona, this December.
“Making that birdie putt on five helped me make more birdies throughout the second round and helped my confidence a lot – that was the round I needed to win the tournament,” said Pimentel, 15, of Richmond, who fired 77-71 (148). “The course was really great to play and I enjoyed the scenery as much as playing the golf course itself. It feels great getting this first place finish since it’s been a while since I’ve last won on this tour.”
Runner-up in the 14-16 division was Tae-In Lee, 16, of Maple Ridge, who shot 79-77 (156). There was a three-way tie for third place at 162 total score between Reid Simpson of Delta (81-81), and North Vancouver’s Sean Moen (81-81), and Michael Kim (75-87).
