PLAY-OFFS IN THREE DIVISIONS
Vancouver, B.C. – The first stop on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) British Columbia Fall Series was held at McCleery Golf Club in Vancouver on Saturday, September 13th, where a full field of competitive junior golfers competed under sunny skies. Play-offs were needed to decide three out of four division winners in the successful event, which had an extensive wait-list.
An outstanding pair of three-under-par 68’s were blasted by two girls - Helen Qin, 18, from China, and newcomer Sylvia Park, 15, from Vancouver, who tied for the lead in the Girls division. Qin, who won the MJT- PGA of BC Junior Girls Champion title at Northview Golf Club in a play-off back in August, won again after defeating Park with a birdie on the first play-off hole. “I feel happy and excited! I did my best!” said Qin, who cited her straight drives as key to her ultimate victory. Taylor Kim, 13, of Surrey, placed third with a score of 74.
