SHUBENACADIE, NS: The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) inaugural Atlantic Junior Classic successfully concluded yesterday at the Links at Penn Hills Golf Club in Shubenacadie, NS, where junior golfers played 36 holes of stroke play competition in four divisions.
Tanner Gayton, 16, of Shubenacadie, claimed the low overall score for the field on his home course as well as the Boys 14-16 division title with rounds of 73-84 for a 157 total. Gayton receives a special exemption into the MJT Boston Pizza National Tour Championship at the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Club in Banff, Alberta, September 10-11, which is by invitation only.
Runner-up in his division was Jordan Dill, 16, also of Shubenacadie, who scored 75-88 for a 163 total. Third place went to Brian Affleck, 16, of Sutherlands River (80-84=164).
