Skelton Goes Low Overall at MJT Bieber Securities Classic
WINNIPEG, MB – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s third annual Bieber Securities Classic concluded this past Monday at Niakwa Country Club in Winnipeg where 17-year-old Jesse Skelton of St. Francois-Xavier took the low overall honours in the two-day tournament.
In a two-man showdown with Cole Roblin, 18, of Winnipeg, on the final day, Skelton came out victorious with scores of 70-77 (147) to win the Boys 17 and up division title.
“The highlight of the event for me was making seven birdies on day one,” said Skelton, whose goal is to become the top amateur in Canada. “This win definitely helps me in terms of confidence.”
Roblin finished three strokes back with scores of 69-81 (150). Third place in the division was a tie between Sean Robertson, 18, of Winnipeg (81-70=151) and Curtis Nichol, 17, of Killarney (77-74=151).
Tournament Sponsor of the event, the fourth MJT stop in Manitoba this season, was local firm Bieber Securities.
