Tournament Record of 14-Under-Par for MJT- BC PGA Junior Champion
CLOVERDALE, BC – The third and final round of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s fourth annual BC PGA Junior Championship concluded yesterday on the superbly conditioned Northview Golf Club in Cloverdale, BC, where 108 young golfers from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC competed.
After 36 holes on the Canal Course the field was cut to the top 57 players for the final round on the Ridge Course, home for seven years to the PGA Tour’s Air Canada Championship.
Maple Leaf Team Canada member Devin Carrey, 18, of South Surrey, posted a phenomenal tournament record score of 14-under-par to win the low overall Champion’s Vase from the BC PGA as well as the Boys 17 and up division title.
Carrey fired rounds of 66-70-66 for a 202 total score to beat runner-up and fellow Team member Seon Kim by six strokes. “Seon is a great player – it came down to making putts down the stretch. We’ll make a good team in Mexico,” said Carrey. “To win this championship is a great way to end the season and head into university next year at Missouri State,” he added.
